Description
The Bachelor of Music in Music Industry provides exposure to some broad career areas of the music industry such as marketing, management, merchandising, audio production, computer applications, and entertainment and media arts. To receive the B.M. Degree in Music Industry, the student must meet the minimum university requirements and specific requirements for the program. Completion of 120 credits is required for this degree which includes the Liberal Arts and Sciences Core (42 credits).

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate a sufficient level of technique in their primary performance medium to artistically perform standard undergraduate level repertoire.
  • Understand the common elements and organizational patterns in music to demonstrate knowledge of forms, processes, structure, context, and styles including diverse cultural sources, from historical and theoretical perspectives.
  • Show competency in secondary performing areas including piano and conducting.
  • Complete a capstone writing project in music.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in the field of music industry.

In addition to the following courses, students must earn four (4) credits in ensembles (MUS 328), and four (4) credits of lessons in the primary performance area (two of which must be at the 200 level or higher).  Students must earn 4 credits in Music Industry Practicum (MUS 365).  Students must earn at least 3 credits of MUS 469 Internship.
