Description This course covers content area in Substance Use Disorders including introduction to and historical perspective of models of addiction, ethical and legal issues, community support, and self-help resources for people and their support system diagnosed with substance use disorders. It also covers contagious diseases related to substance abuse, American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria, treatment planning, family treatment, and prevention of substance use disorders. This course is designed to be in accordance with CACREP standards and Minnesota/North Dakota Addiction Counseling licensure requirements.
