Description	This course introduces students to the basic elements of literary study, including literary analysis, critical interpretation, and theoretical approaches. Students will study a variety of genres and styles from diverse cultural and historical perspectives. Students will also read exemplary pieces of criticism designed to demonstrate the fundamental tenets of a critical approach. Required of all English majors as a prerequisite for all core and major courses.
